Impromptu Speaking Practice

Impromptu speaking is answering well when you did not know the question in advance — in interviews, meetings, classes and conversations. Regular practice with unfamiliar questions makes it easier.

Each drill here is one rep: draw a question, prepare for a few seconds, speak against the clock, then review exactly one thing to improve and try again.

Default settings: 30 seconds to prepare, 1 minute to speak,PREP structure.

How to practise

  1. 1

    Daily reps beat long sessions

Three one-minute answers a day will do more than an hour once a week. The Daily Challenge is designed to be that habit.

  2. 2

    Change one thing per attempt

After each answer, choose a single fix — faster opening, fewer fillers, a real example — and immediately retry the same question.

  3. 3

    Shrink your prep time

Start with 30 seconds. When answers feel easy, drop to 15, then to zero. That is how you get comfortable thinking while speaking.
